AND INSPIRE CHANGE THROUGH SOCIAL IMPACT
What is Athletes’ Voices?
Athletes’ Voices provides elite athletes with the tools needed to leverage their high-influence platforms to make an impact around issues of importance globally, nationally, locally, and personally, ensuring that their voices aren’t just heard in the moment, but are the catalyst or spark for a movement We invite you to be a part of the journey!
Increasingly, professional athletes are asked to comment publicly on a myriad of social, civic, and political topics. The Athletes’ Voices program provides elite athletes with the tools and network to leverage their high-influence platforms to make an impact around issues of importance globally, nationally, locally, and personally, ensuring that their voices aren’t just heard in the moment, but are the catalyst for a movement.
The Athletes’ Voices team is looking for students eager to further enhance this program over a six-month period (November 2022 - May 2023) as Student Fellows. Following the first six months, student fellows are understood to have continued participation within their sub cohorts. Student fellows will work closely with the Athletes’ Voices strategist groups to develop personal relationships with the certificate program’s participating athletes, guiding the athletes through the process of cultivating and using their unique voice to bring awareness to their areas of philanthropic focus.
Fellows will have the opportunity to:
Attend a spring convening with our professional athletes, philanthropic advisors, and academics. Connect with individuals in the sports and professional world.
Fellows will be required to:
Attend all weekly lectures and monthly Speaker Series events
Complete all weekly homework assignments in a timely manner.
Present a final project that shows their understanding of the program and their experiences within it.
Continue active communication and regular meetings with their sub-cohort after receiving their certificate.
The application process will open in August and close the first week of October. After submitting your application, you will hear back within 3-4 weeks regarding the next steps. If we decide to move forward, expect to receive an email within the same time frame. Interviews will be conducted throughout the month of October, and candidates will be selected in early November. While this is not a paid opportunity, students who complete the program will receive a stipend of $500, or have the option to forego the stipend for course credit.
